Cut Data Encryption Costs with Ciphertex

AES Data Encryption with Ciphertex

At Ciphertex, our mission is to protect the data of every professional and organization on the planet by delivering powerful and portable data systems with advanced encryption and migration features. To achieve maximum data protection for our customers, we adopted a hybrid encryption model and combined the most useful hardware and software encryption features to create a NAS akin to a virtual vault.

Our expertise in this area is no coincidence. Over the years many businesses have asked us to help them build secure and portable data storage systems. Through the development of these projects we learned, compiled, and mastered encryption processes to construct the most robust and portable NAS system on the planet—see our SecureNAS Series.

You don’t have to take our word for it—our client list includes several well-known public and private sector organizations, from NASA to the Walt Disney Company.

The Cost of Stolen, Deleted, and Mismanaged Data Is High

According to one study, a data breach costs an organization an average of $4.24 million. With so much at risk, you can’t settle for run-of-the-mill data security solutions. Ciphertex has gone the extra mile to ensure that our customers can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with strong data security.

We build appliances that protect you from internal error and external intrusions, either of which can be very costly to remediate. Our SecureNAS bundles several encryption features into one device so you can avoid wasting time and money on piecemeal solutions.

Encryption Standards

Not all encryption standards are equally effective. Encryption is innately vulnerable to a variety of threats, including brute force attacks (where a hacker attempts to guess the key) and insider attacks (caused by an intentional or unintentional security breach created by a party within the affected organization).

The need to defend against cyberthreats of this nature has spurred the development of increasingly powerful encryption standards. The most effective encryption yet devised is the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), or Rijndael.

What Is the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)?

One of the most widely used symmetric-key encryption algorithms, AES comes in three different key lengths: 128-bit, 192-bit, and 256-bit. AES 256-bit is the longest key length, and it’s the encryption standard recognized and recommended by the U.S. government. AES-256 encryption is considered virtually unbreakable, even with the aid of a supercomputer.

Ciphertex deploys AES 256-bit hardware and software encryption. To reduce the encryption’s impact on system performance, our engineering team rigorously tested and selected specific enterprise-grade hardware.

How Does AES Work?

The following is a simplified diagram illustrating what happens when the AES algorithm is applied to plaintext:
